Penny for Your Thoughts

Back to Mr. Leohr's Class
Materials Required:
Small disposable plastic cup
2 feet of masking tape
4 feet of string
6 plastic straws
Hole punch

Goal:
To practice the design process and teamwork to achieve the same goal.

Description:
You will be building a suspended bucket system using only the materials you are given.  Nothing is allowed to touch the bottom of the bucket.  The goal is to successfully hold as many pennies as possible in your bucket while it is suspended off of the table.
However, before you are allowed to begin construction, you must plan what you are going to do and estimate your performance.  After a predefined amount of time, all construction must stop. Your performance will be measured by simply counting how many pennies your support system can hold.
